Technical Business Analyst

Location: Chippenham (Hybrid – 3 days per week on-site)

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Business Analyst to join a market-leading manufacturing organisation undergoing a significant digital transformation programme.

As a Technical Business Analyst, you will play a key role in bridging the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, helping to modernise critical systems, improve business processes, and deliver innovative technology solutions. You will work across a variety of projects, including legacy system modernisation, ERP enhancements, systems integration, and cloud-based initiatives.

This is an ideal opportunity for a technically minded Business Analyst who enjoys translating complex business requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions that drive operational efficiency and business value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across operations, logistics, sales, and IT to gather and analyse business requirements.

  • Review and optimise end-to-end business processes and workflows.

  • Conduct business analysis activities including process mapping, gap analysis, data mapping, trend analysis, and requirements gathering.

  • Translate business challenges into clear functional and technical specifications for development teams.

  • Produce user stories, use cases, process flows, and supporting project documentation.

  • Build strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on requirements and acceptance criteria.

  • Work closely with internal technology teams and third-party software providers to improve and integrate key business systems.

  • Support system testing, validation, troubleshooting, and solution implementation activities.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation to support software development, knowledge transfer, and future enhancements.

  • Facilitate communication between business and technical teams to ensure successful project delivery.

About You:

We're looking for a Business Analyst who combines strong analytical skills with a solid technical understanding and a passion for delivering business improvement through technology.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years' experience as a Business Analyst, ideally within manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, or similar operational environments.

  • Strong technical understanding of system architecture, databases, APIs, integrations, and software development principles.

  • Advanced SQL skills with experience extracting, analysing, and validating data.

  • Experience working with EDI, XML/JSON, and integration technologies.

  • Proven expertise in business process modelling and continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.

  • Experience producing Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Software Requirements Specifications (SRS), user stories, use cases, and technical documentation.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Experience working within Agile and/or traditional software development environments.

  • Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, or Lucidchart.

Desirable:

  • Experience within manufacturing, print, publishing, logistics, or supply chain sectors.

  • Exposure to ERP, MIS, production planning, warehouse management, or fulfilment systems.

  • Knowledge of cloud-based platforms and digital transformation programmes.
